the 12th promotion of the Margaret Awards is now open!
JFD, the international growth accelerator for women in tech, is launching the 12th promotion of the Margaret Awards, under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic.
For this promotion entitled “Championing Women”, in conjunction with the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, JFD is extending the Margaret Awards categories to Canada and has created the first-ever “Territorial Favourite” Margaret Award.
JFD is calling on all Canadian, European and African women and girls to submit their applications on www.joinjfd.com from November 8, 2023 to January 8, 2024 at 23:59 GMT+1.
Founded in 2012 by Delphine Remy-Boutang, the Margaret Awards pay tribute to NASA engineer Margaret Hamilton, who helped mankind take its first steps on the Moon. The only women’s tech prize under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic, each year it rewards female entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and young girls under the age of 18 whose innovations respond to the major challenges facing our society.
A jury of experts will meet on February 8th to select the 2024 finalists. The winners will be unveiled on April 17, 2024 during an exceptional ceremony attended by major international players from the economy and tech ecosystems.
“Shaping our future by placing the major issues of our century at the heart of innovation, and giving women their rightful place in our society, has been our mission at JFD for 12 years”, stated Delphine Remy-Boutang, founder of JFD and business angel. “Every year, we discover hundreds of promising women, and together with our partners, we help them go faster and further through the JFD growth accelerator and additionally, thanks to our Margaret Awards. After the Césars and the Oscars, now it’s time to showcase women champions who are changing the world through their disruptive innovations. We are proud that our prize has been placed under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic.”
Over the years, JFD has extended its influence in Europe, Africa, and since this autumn, in Canada as well. It will continue to highlight women entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in the French territories, a breeding ground for talent and potential. For the first time, JFD, in partnership with the Banque des Territoires (Caisse des Dépôts group), will be awarding the “Territorial Favourite” Margaret Award. This prize is awarded in recognition of a woman entrepreneur or intrapreneur who is playing a key role in the transformation of France’s regions.
“Our collaboration with JFD allows us to strengthen our commitment to a more inclusive digital ecosystem, and more specifically, to the emergence of local female talent who contribute to ecological transformation and to social and territorial cohesion in our regions”, elaborated Magali Theveniault-Prevet, Director of Digital Platforms at Caisse des Dépôts, 2016 Intrapreneur Europe Margaret and member of the Margaret jury. “We are delighted to put our expertise at the service of JFD in identifying the specific needs of regions and in ensuring the success of the future Territorial Favourite Margaret Award winner.”
“At La French Tech Toronto, our core philosophy is that female empowerment in tech is not just lauded but a fundamental expectation”, stated Estelle Chen, President of La French Tech Toronto. “The establishment of the Abeona Network, alongside our strategic partnership with JFD, exemplifies our dedication to this ethos. This powerful synergy is more than just an alliance; it is a beacon of thought leadership, driving a gender-balanced future in STEM. Through our partnership with JFD, the Margaret Awards and our combined efforts, we are setting the stage for female innovators to be at the forefront of technological evolution. This is a testament to our unwavering commitment to diversity and excellence within the tech sphere.”
