Can you present MyWaves and tell us more about your gender equality policy?
myWaves offers a natural sleep solution that records your brain’s unique sleep wave pattern and transforms it into a personalized sound. Listening to this sound for 30 minutes each night has been shown to improve REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Created by Dr. Alain Destexhe, the technique emerged after he discovered that listening to his own brain waves helped him fall asleep easily on flights. Clinical studies at a leading sleep center in Paris confirmed that listening to one’s own delta waves enhances sleep quality.
myWaves now offers a device to record your unique sleep wave pattern in just one night. Once uploaded to our website, our patented technology converts this pattern into a custom sound file for nightly use. This simple, scientifically backed approach supports sleep hygiene and overall wellness.
As a startup led by a female founder, myWaves is committed to building a strong team to bring this innovative solution to market.
What does your involvement with JFD mean to you as a member of the JFD Club?
Joining JFD means becoming part of a dynamic network that champions innovation, diversity, and the empowerment of women in tech. As members of the JFD Club, we look forward not only to building valuable connections across Europe and the USA but also to engaging in meaningful collaborations and gaining insights from other leaders. JFD’s mission to spotlight women’s contributions aligns with our own goals, and we’re excited about the opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to this inspiring community.
How do you see the impact of AI in your sector?
When we began developing our neuroscience sleep discovery, we thought AI would be the best method of building the algorithm required to abstract and process the data. We found that a program was a much simpler method. We will use AI to help end users use the sleep data we obtain to help improve their sleep habits.
What are your next goals and how do you see MyWaves evolving in a context where AI and inclusion are becoming increasingly important?
Our next goals are market entry into the UK, Europe and USA. We will be using AI programs to target our market and help us better understand their needs. We will also be using AI to help us in our next stage of development for PowerNaps and new sound creations to offer the customers.
With regards to forming the Board for myWaves it will be important to have many different types of thinkers to give us a whole view and not a view from people with the same business backgrounds. Having women on the Board and also as our advisors will be important since we also suspect that women will be the major buyers of the product and we need their view into this buying decision.
What concrete initiatives or actions would you recommend to encourage broader and more inclusive participation of women in AI solution development?
Inclusion of women in AI can only happen if women are encouraged early in their educational journey to consider the STEM programs as a path forward. We need more government, private and nonprofit groups focusing on this point to bring more girls through the STEM programs and then on to higher levels of education to provide a broader range of perspective on AI and its value.
